Mentoring younger learners

A mentor is an older or more experienced learner who helps a younger or newer learner grow. The younger learner is called the mentee. Mentoring is not the same as teaching from the front of the room. It is a quiet, one-to-one partnership built on patience, respect and steady encouragement. In Grade 6 you are old enough to be a real mentor — to a younger sibling, a kindergarten reading buddy, or a Grade 1 classmate who is just learning to write.
