Grade 6 · Science · Lesson 12

Energy forms and transformations

Energy is everywhere. The sun warms your face, your phone buzzes in your pocket, a kicked ball flies through the air, a lamp lights up your desk, a song plays from a speaker. All of these involve ENERGY — the ability to do work or cause a change. The amazing thing is that energy comes in different FORMS, and one form can change into another. A solar panel turns light into electricity. A battery turns chemicals into motion. A drum turns motion into sound. Energy never disappears — it just transforms.
