Grade 6 · Science · Lesson 3

Choose Accurate Tools and Units

A scientist is only as good as the measurements they record. Choosing the right tool and the right unit decides whether your data is trustworthy or useless. Every measurable quantity — length, mass, volume, time, or temperature — has a small set of tools and units that go with it. Picking the wrong one is like trying to weigh an elephant with a bathroom scale, or time a 100-meter race (about 109 yards) with a wall clock.
