Grade 5 · Social Studies · Lesson 27

Problem solving in the community

Every community has problems — litter in the park, a library that closes too early, no safe bike lanes, classmates who skip lunch because food is short at home. Adults do not magically fix all of these. Real change comes from people who notice a problem, gather facts, and follow a clear PLAN. Today you will learn the 5-step problem-solving cycle that real volunteers, councils, and student leaders use, and you will draft an action plan of your own.
