Civics: roles & responsibilities

CIVICS is the study of how a country works — what RIGHTS people have, what DUTIES they owe, and how leaders are chosen. In a democracy, the country is not run by one king or queen. It is run by the PEOPLE — both directly (when citizens vote, volunteer, and speak up) and through the leaders the people elect. To keep a democracy strong, two groups have to do their jobs: CITIZENS and the GOVERNMENT.
