Write a reading blog or review

A READING BLOG is a short post that says, in your own voice, what you read and what you thought of it. It is not a book report for the teacher. It is a SHORT, FRIENDLY POST aimed at another kid who is wondering, "Is this book worth my Saturday?" A good blog answers in about 200 words. It uses a STAR RATING from 1 to 5, a HOOK to pull a reader in, a no-spoilers PLOT SUMMARY, ONE favorite quote, a recommendation aimed at a real kind of reader, and a clean SIGN OFF with your name and the date.

What this lesson teaches

1Plan a seven-section blog post from title and star rating through to a clean sign off
2Write a hook intro and a no-spoiler plot summary in three or four sentences
3Pick one favorite quote and explain in one line why that quote stuck
4Recommend the book to a named reader and add a clear genre tag
