Compare authors' points of view

Every story is told from somewhere. The POINT OF VIEW (POV) is the position the author chooses to tell the story from. Point of view shapes what the reader can see, hear, and know. Two authors can describe the very same event — a sunset, a soccer match, a first day at school — and the story will feel completely different depending on the point of view they pick.
