Prepare a Writing Presentation

Writing that stays on the page is only half of what writing can do. When writers read their work aloud, they give it a voice — and a voice reaches people in a way words on paper alone cannot. Today you become not just the writer, but the presenter of your own work.

What this lesson teaches

1Choose a piece of writing that shows the most growth, clearest ideas, or strongest personal voice
2Write a short spoken introduction that names the piece, says why it was chosen, and prepares the audience
3Read aloud with expression — slow pace, strong volume, matching tone, and eye contact
4Close with a specific writer's reflection on what was learned, would be changed, or the writer is proud of
5Practice reading the piece aloud at least three times before presenting
